The Broadway American Diner is a typical diner with a relaxed ambiance and delectable cuisine. The Old Airport Road Food Centre has housed Western Barbeque for over 40 years. Many visitors come for the renowned Chicken Chop, served with garlic sauce rather than the more common brown gravy. There will be many people waiting in line because of its popularity.

The classic recipe for the garlic sauce, which has been around for decades, calls for more than ten distinct ingredients. It makes sense why folks keep returning whenever they have the chance.

But every single day, Berthold makes it.

Many regular patrons frequent Wow Wow West at ABC Brickworks Food Centre because of the stall’s enormous quantities for less than $9. The menu pays respect to traditional Western cuisine even though the stall isn’t legally a historic restaurant because it’s operated by a young couple. A sizable deep-fried fish cutlet is topped with crunchy fries, baked beans, and slaw in the $9 Fish & Chips.

Great western food. Had fish and chips and chicken cutlet. The chicken was crispy yet juicy. Fish was also crispy and flaky. Didn’t taste like dory which was great. Huge amount of fries, baked beans and coleslaw as a side. Also ordered the chicken and pork sausage. The sausages taste the same but the pork sausage was larger (cost more) and had a better texture. Would probably skip the sausages next time and just go for the western food which was good value for money. Do be on time if you’re going for dinner. They really stop taking orders from 730pm onwards. – TC

Given that the popular Chef Hainanese Western Food only operates for two hours each day, it might be difficult to find a table at this stall. They specialize in Hainanese-style Western food that customers praise as being really nostalgic. For a complete experience, choose their Mixed Grill ($13). This is served with a fried egg, a mix of sides, including baked potatoes, along with fish fillet, chicken chops, pork chops, chicken sausage, and chicken chops. The prices for the other main dishes on the menu start at $5.

Old school western food stall with generous portions and affordable prices. I tried the mixed grill for $10, which comes with 1 large piece of pork chop and chicken chop. It was so good I went back to try their beef steak on a separate occasion. Both dishes are yummy and value for money. No issues with the long queue because I went during off-peak. Chicken cutlet devotees can enjoy the Apollo Western Food dish. Since the business has been operating for 35 years, the Chicken Cutlet ($7) has been a top seller. The cutlet manages to maintain its tenderness in the center while having been deep-fried to bone-crushingly crisp edges. Along with the homemade sweet buns that aren’t also deep-fried, the crinkle-cut fries, baked beans, and other basic sides help you avoid the weakness.

I have been eating at Apollo Western Food for the past 33 years. This quiet unassuming western food stall is a hidden gem in Singapore. Fish & Chips may only cost $5 but its fillet is perfectly fried and juicy fresh. I had Morton’s last week. Now I’m having Apollo’s medium rare NZ Chilled Angus Ribeye at $14.50. I close my eyes to savor the meat, I can hardly tell the difference. The same couple has mastered their craft for the past 30 years. The family-run hawker enterprise Tip Top Western Food has been in operation for three generations. Although the menu has undergone modifications since its inception with the addition of Cheese Fries ($3.50) and Prawn Aglio Olio Spaghetti with Mushroom ($5.50), the family recipes have all been passed down through the generations. If you want to save money, have their Steak, which costs just $9.50 and comes with fries and coleslaw on the side.

It is hardly surprising that businesses that only serve all-natural wines (a phrase used loosely here, of course) are now subject to this new levy. Jeans and pricey wine lists are at the forefront of this anti-winemaking tradition push. No matter the cost or Vivino rating, it is promoted by wine professionals who are essentially wine aficionados and want you to enjoy the excellence in each bottle you purchase. With the launch of Rebel Rebel, this desire will come true.

I recently discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant located on Bukit Pasoh Road. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, but I recommend sitting indoors as there is more space once you go through the counter. The food is absolutely delicious! My favorite dish is the curly flower steak, which is cooked to perfection and served with a delicious sauce. The burrata cheese with sourdough is also amazing, and the olive oil and butter that come with it are perfectly flavored. The ‘Maxwell Food Centre,’ the country’s oldest Western eatery, is so well-liked that many refer to it as having the greatest Western food in Singapore. Huge servings of Hainanese-style Chicken Chop ($7.50) and Pork Chop ($7.50), along with their crispy fries and french fries, have been offered by Ye Lai Xiang Tasty Barbeque since they opened in 1976. If you visit The Frying Pan, you can anticipate rich stews, perfectly charred grilled meats, and generous servings of sides.

As you wander along the length of restaurants at Punggol East Container Park, it is difficult to miss the big, bold yellow, and blue containers from Big Fish Small Fish. One of Singapore’s most reasonably priced fish and chips can be found at Big Fish Small Fish’s container restaurant, giving them a good reason to yell for your attention.

They specialize on serving various fish dishes, such as fish and chips with Dory ($6.90), Seabass ($11.90), and Salmon ($12.90), all of which are reasonably priced. The atmosphere on the bottom floor of Nicolas Le Restaurant is cozy and welcoming for families, and there is a bar there as well. Chef Nicola gets a great view of his patrons from his open-concept kitchen. Due to the fact that he visits each table to say hello, you’ll notice that the majority of customers are regulars.

There is only one tasting meal available for $98++; there is no a la carte menu. You consume the food the chef makes. Please let the chef know in advance if you have any dietary allergies or limitations so that he may adjust the dishes to meet your needs. Pork, pigeon, beef, rack of lamb, and Atlantic seafish are among the five available main meals. The menu is changed twice a month in accordance with the seasons.

I have not been to this lovely restaurant for almost 4 years since Covid started. Nothing has changed, still tip-top in terms of food and service. It is located in Teck Lim Road, which is very close to Chinatown. Parking is generally a concern, especially during lunch and dinner. They do provide valet service during dinner time. The boss Nicolas is always engaging his guests, and it is a very relaxing and cosy atmosphere throughout the whole course of my meal. – Ben Wong
