As we step into the new year, influencer Wendy Cheng, widely known as Xiaxue, is embracing a fresh venture – and it’s not your typical hustle. In addition to her role as a content creator, she has proudly entered the F&B scene with her latest venture, Pink Coconut. Positioned as the country’s first pink nasi lemak brand, it comes complete with a charming touch – heart-shaped fish cakes.

While Xiaxue is renowned for her love of all things pink, resembling an Asian Barbie, the choice of entering the food industry may seem unexpected. Given her background as a self-proclaimed makeup addict and previous experience launching her own false lashes brand, Plastic Cosmetics, one might anticipate a move into the beauty sector. So, why nasi lemak?

As it turns out, this culinary venture has long been a dream for Xiaxue, equipped with a repertoire of family recipes. To kickstart this exciting journey, she sought guidance from her old secondary school friend, Randall Ang, the mastermind behind the fish ball brand BoBo. Serendipitously, Randall operates a factory capable of producing various dishes, leading the duo to establish a cloud kitchen in collaboration with Global Cloud Business. Stay tuned as Xiaxue’s Pink Coconut brings a fresh and unexpected twist to the F&B landscape.

Beyond the vibrant pink rice and adorable fish cakes, each Pink Coconut set is accompanied by a medley of flavors, including sambal, hae bee hiam, ikan bilis, and peanuts. When it comes to protein options, choose from the original chicken wings, prawn-paste chicken wings, boneless chicken cutlet, or the ever-popular beef rendang. Prices vary from $9.08 to $12, depending on your selected delivery platform and protein preference.

For those with a penchant for customization, each element of the meal is available for individual order, allowing you to tailor your dining experience. As an extra kick, the menu features the spicy Super Star Sambal Petai ($4.84 to $5.20, depending on the delivery platform) – a creation that Xiaxue takes immense pride in. Describing sambal petai as her “fiery muse” amidst a world of flavors, she revels in the potent combination of chili, shrimp paste, garlic, shallots, and petai beans, making it a standout side dish on the Pink Coconut menu.
