On the highest hill in the Singapore Botanic Gardens is where you’ll find the National Orchid Garden. Over 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids may be found on three hectares of skillfully planted slopes, with roughly 600 species and hybrids on show.
The National Orchid Garden’s architectural idea, which displays the presentation of plants in four various color zones throughout most of its regions, is a distinguishing feature not to be missed.
With its dominant hues of vibrant and vivacious tints of gold, yellow, and creams, the “spring” zone
- “Summer” zone, with its dominant red and pink tones
- zone of developed hues in the “fall”
- White and cold violet hues make up the “winter” region.
The meticulous blending of carefully chosen trees, shrubs, herbs, and orchids (usually hybrids) with complementary leaf and flower colours results in colour zoning. Mr Lee Kuan Yew inaugurated the National Orchid Garden on October 20, 1995.
