The park is named after Mount Mulu, the second-highest mountain in Sarawak, which dominates the landscape with its imposing presence. Towering limestone peaks, hidden valleys, and swift-flowing rivers contribute to the park’s unparalleled scenic beauty.

One of the key attractions is the world’s largest cave chamber, Sarawak Chamber, which could easily accommodate several jumbo jets. Adventure caving is a popular activity here, with guided tours allowing visitors to explore mystical caves such as Deer Cave and Clearwater Cave, adorned with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

The park is not only a haven for spelunkers but also a paradise for trekkers and hikers. Well-maintained trails wind through the rainforest, leading to panoramic viewpoints and picturesque spots. The Pinnacles, a series of razor-sharp limestone spikes, present a challenging trek but reward intrepid hikers with unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape.

Just returned from Staying in Mulu National Park/ Pinnacles. It’s such a beautiful place and a hidden gem: the park is so well taken care of and the accommodation is spacious and clean. The walk to caves. The long boat rides and the caves were awesome. I highly recommend taking your family here as there are many activities to do. – L

I love this park, it is full of nature, animals and insects around. I recommend visiting the Deer Cave and watching the bat exodus in the afternoon. Also, it is better to go back to your hotel and leave the park before 7 or 8 pm after you have finished your tour. – Maria Monserrat Elaskar

Pinnacles trek can be challenging for some but if you’re generally fit it should be doable. Our tour was very expensive for the value, especially compared to other similar treks in South East Asia. I wouldn’t recommend Majestic Leisure. It was 550 USD + Tip for basic food, no porters, and sleeping in a dorm without a pillow nor sleeping bag. Mosquito net wasn’t included either. The guide was very knowledgeable (he works with all other agencies). – Pablo Mza
