You’ve so enjoyed most of our regional cuisine. We do know that you haven’t yet tried mutton soup, though, which is a delicacy. Our regional cuisine ranges from well-liked dishes like chicken rice and nasi lemak to flavorful treasures like laksa and chicken curry. The underappreciated mutton soup, which is made of mutton chunks cooked in a broth and eaten with bread or rice, is what we want to draw attention to.
There are two varieties of mutton soup available in Singapore: the Indian Muslim style, also known as sup kambing, has a thick, spicy broth filled with spices, while the Chinese-style mutton soup has a clear, light broth laced with diverse herbs including wolfberries and dates. Want to give them a try? Here are Singapore’s top locations for mutton soup.

We had heard good things about Ivy’s Hainanese Mutton Soup after enjoying the Hainanese beef stew at the Hainan restaurant in Jewel Changi. Ivy’s appears to be Singapore’s top Chinese mutton soup. When we searched for Hainanese mutton soup, this was the first result that up. Google reviewers gave it 4.2 stars.
The soup was loaded with meat and other ingredients. The soup was tasty, but the star of the show was the mutton which was very tender and didn’t have any gamey taste. It was a pleasure eating the mutton and other ingredients. The chilli was also great. – Gopi Bala

The word “biasa” means “normal” in Malay, yet this place is everything but. Even while M.A. Deen Biasa is well known for its crimson marrow bone soup, the mutton soup is also noteworthy. Green onions are used to garnish the soup’s thick, aromatic broth, which also contains large bits of meat. You may finish it all off with a cup of teh tarik. We advise ordering the pizza prata if you’re still hungry because it offers the best of both worlds.
This is a very old and well-established restaurant. Famous for its bone marrow and mutton soup. We had an opportunity to try and it was still as tasty as before. The boss was very friendly and chatty. Service was tip-top even though they were a bit short-handed. Flavourful maggie goreng also to compliment the meal. Also a must-try! – Andy

The Berseh Food Centre in Jalan Besar is where you can discover alternatives like crocodile, turtle soup, and even shark meat if you’re eager to try uncommon meats in Singapore. Those seeking something somewhat safer (though still daring) might, of course, try Jalan Besar Mutton Soup. The broth has a faint herbal flavor, and the mutton is delicious and not gamey. The dipping sauce definitely delivers a punch, we must say!
One of the best mutton soups that i have tried. Herbal, clean, fresh taste. I ordered mutton soup $8, it comes with a generous portion. Also, i ordered yam rice 80c. The yam rice really goes well with the soup. They also have other specialties such as mutton meatballs, and tendon. I will come again to try. The young lady is also friendly. – Fajar Priyanto

Haji M. Abdul Rajak, one of Singapore’s oldest mutton soup shops (open since 1955! ), solely offers sup kambing to its patrons. No animal part is thrown away, and you can choose your favorite mutton pieces. If you consider yourself an adventurous eater, request the lamb’s brain. Fluffy white bread is provided with the soup, which you may immerse in the broth. Advice: Request a free top-up of soup from the vendor if your bowl is becoming low.
Been eating this kambing soup for about 30 years now, way back from my childhood when I’m still staying at the area. The taste never really change and it is still the best kambing soup you can find in Singapore. This time I ordered a medium size ribs soup for $10. Bread is optional at $0.50 per plate. The ribs are really delicious and tender, fall right off the bones when you bite it. The soup is still as heavenly. If you are fan of kambing soup, this one is a must-try! – Derrick Lin

Here is another Singaporean booth that offers mutton soup made in the Teochew way. The wolfberries and ginger give the broth a herbal flavor, while the garlic cloves give the soup’s flavor profile greater depth. Select from the ribs, meatballs, tendon, and tripe, or ask for the combination bowl that includes all four options. Though the prices are a little more than those of the other items on the list, we believe the money was well spent.
Consistent high quality of mutton soup. Drink immediately while it’s hot for the best experience with white rice. Go well with the chili dip. Warm and soothing in rainy cold weather. – M
