The new-generation female J-pop group, ATARASHII GAKKO!, has announced that their world tour is coming to Asia this June! ATARASHII GAKKO! will be performing in four cities, starting in Bangkok, followed by Hong Kong, Taipei, and Singapore.

The ATARASHII GAKKO! World Tour will be coming to Singapore on June 29, 2024, with a performance at The Theatre at Mediacorp.

ATARASHII GAKKO! (which translates to “new school” in Japanese) is a groundbreaking J-pop group composed of four young women who are redefining the girl group genre. Unlike the typical J-pop female idol groups known for their high-pitched voices, synchronized dance moves, and overly cute personas, ATARASHII GAKKO! takes a different approach.
They don sailor-fuku uniforms reminiscent of the 1970s and 80s Japanese student attire, complete with long skirts and pulled-up socks, and firmly reject objectification. Their dance moves, which they choreograph themselves, blend the energy of Japanese butoh dance, heavy metal headbanging, and hip-hop street dancing.
Musically, ATARASHII GAKKO! fuses elements of modern J-pop, Showa-era kayokyoku, rap, punk, and dance music, making them difficult to categorize into a single genre. Their innovative style and defiance of traditional norms set them apart in the music industry.
