Established by Casey Chua in 2013, the ADX Architects is an integrated architecture firm based in Singapore. The core capabilities are architecture, space planning and interior design. Since its establishment, the firm has undertaken projects of varying nature, size and complexity. These projects include boutique hotels, commercial buildings, residential spaces and landed houses.
The firm’s belief is that architecture can create meaningful spaces.
The key motivation is that design can be a catalyst for change.
ADX executes all their projects with a dynamic approach – looking at a multitude of factors that will inform the design – from the site context, user’s culture and lifestyle, and climatic factors. The process seeks a collaborative approach which often explores varied and relevant disciplines, materials and technology.
About the Founder
Casey received his formal architectural education in Australia. Graduating with three degrees, including honours degrees in Architecture and Design Science from University of Sydney, he decided to return home to Singapore. Honing his design and project management skills in some of the most established firms in Singapore, he was instrumental in a number of notable buildings. These include high rise condominiums, luxury city apartments, office buildings and large scale developments in India, China and Vietnam.
In 2005, Casey received his Registration with the Board of Architects. He actively engages in service as a volunteer member of the Singapore Institute of Architects. He sits on the committee that evaluates BCA waiver cases and is a member of the Small and Medium Architectural Practices committee since 2018. He is also a registered ASEAN and APEC architect.
In 2013, he decided to embark on his own with the establishment of ADX Architects . He has a hand-on in his approach to the projects that the firm handles. His efforts have been recognised with many awards – both local and abroad. In 2017 and 2018, the Green wall House and House with Screens won Best Residential project at the Asia Pacific Property Awards. In 2018, their office building project won the BCA Greenmark Gold Plus award. In 2019, the Populous Hotel won the Best Hotel Architecture at the Asia Pacific Property Awards.
ADX has also been a recipient of the ubiquitous Singapore Good Design Mark award, given annually by the Design Council of Singapore.
Engaging the ADX
Passionate about design, the firm is grounded in creating environments responsive to the owner’s unique requirements. This vision is exemplified in all of the firm’s works – promoting creative and relevant ways to enhance the owner’s living, working and social experience in the spaces that are created.
In executing the works, ADX leads the design and construction process in an organised manner. The process begins with the establishing a comprehensive design brief in close consultation with the client. This is to ensure that all of the client’s needs and concerns are consolidated and understood. A program is also established to put in place the client’s timeline for completion.
This is followed by preliminary design and sketches to convey our proposal and ideas. The sketches often involve 3D models and visuals to give the client a clear perception of our design.
After the design is accepted, it is developed for Authority submissions. All designs have to be approved by the relevant Authorities before commencement of documentation for the purpose of calling a construction tender. Details and specifications, where relevant will be included in the tender.
The tender process is closely monitored by ADX with emphasis in adhering to the program. Once the contractor is chosen and awarded, it is a requirement for the construction master program to be provided by the contractor. ADX will be the project administrator, with regular updates and meetings conducted to ensure the smooth progress till completion.
