SPARK THE CHANGE FEST 2023

Become a part of Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) and ignite a movement to stop suicide. Starting with a 3-kilometer #HowRU charity walk, support those who have been touched by suicide by attending local performances, wellness classes, and interactive exhibits.

On Saturday, September 2, 2023, in OCBC Square at Singapore Sports Hub, SOS will organize Spark the Change Fest in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day.

The festival’s second iteration will begin with a physical 3-kilometer #HowRU charity walk, where people may walk to demonstrate solidarity and support for anyone going through a crisis, considering suicide, or who has been impacted by it.

In addition to learning more about SOS and how every one of us has a role to play in Singapore’s suicide prevention and intervention efforts, event attendees can participate in a variety of performances, wellness seminars, and interactive displays scheduled throughout the day.

About The Campaign

The number of suicides reported in Singapore last year was 476, a worrying increase of 25.9% from 378 in 2021 and the largest number of suicide fatalities documented since 2000. According to this, more than one suicide death occurs every day.

On September 2, 2023, in OCBC Square at Singapore Sports Hub, we will hold our yearly Spark the Change Fest 2023 in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day. With a lineup of events that includes a physical 3km #HowRU Charity Walk as well as side events and displays on mental health and suicide prevention, we’ll be starting off with this event.

Even while SOS is still offering its programs and services to individuals in need, we can’t do it alone. The time is now for us to contribute to suicide prevention and Spark The Change together as debates about mental health and suicide prevention become more common. Join us as we raise money to help people in need.

Every money donated to our cause enables us to directly help people who are struggling. Your donations directly assist SOS in our cause of suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and postvention activities, whether it is towards the improvement and growth of our services and infrastructure or simply ensuring that our services stay free for those who need them.

About The Charity

The largest suicide prevention organization in Singapore was established in 1969 and is called Samaritans of Singapore (SOS). We are a secular, non-profit organization that offers 24/7, discrete emotional assistance to anyone going through difficult times or who is contemplating or has experienced suicide. We aim to offer prompt assistance to people who are struggling through our programs and services that are centered on suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.

In Singapore, suicide claimed an average of 402 lives every year from 2016 to 2021. According to this, more than one suicide death occurs every day. Now is the perfect time for us to work together to improve things since conversations about mental health and suicide prevention are more common than ever.
