A significant NEWater pipe leak near *Scape mall in Orchard led to a massive gush of water, prompting swift action from authorities.
Authorities are currently probing the cause behind a burst water pipe incident outside the *Scape mall situated in Orchard Road. This incident occurred on Thursday, April 11, and resulted in water gushing several meters into the air.
In response to queries from TODAY on Friday, Singapore’s national water agency PUB revealed that they were alerted to a “pipe leak” at approximately 2:15 pm at a construction site along 2 Orchard Link. The leak specifically transpired on a NEWater pipeline, as confirmed by the agency.
A 47-second video shared on Facebook captured the dramatic moment as water forcefully spouted upwards, reaching a significant height of several meters.
PUB stated, “We promptly dispatched our service crew to the scene, and the leak has been contained. Repair works are currently underway.”
The agency is actively investigating the cause of the leak.
