The move aligns with Sony’s strategy of bringing more of its exclusive titles to the PC platform, including successful releases like God of War, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and The Last of Us. Horizon Forbidden West is also slated for a PC release later this month, reinforcing Sony’s commitment to a multi-platform approach. Sony President Hiroki Totoki previously highlighted the synergy and growth potential in expanding first-party content to multiple platforms, acknowledging the positive impact on operating profits.

Ghost of Tsushima is coming to PC in May

The trend of PlayStation exclusives making their way to PC is showing no signs of stopping, and the latest addition is the director’s cut of the samurai drama, Ghost of Tsushima. Scheduled to launch on PC on May 16th, this edition encompasses the main campaign, the Iki Island expansion, and the multiplayer mode known as Legends.

In addition, Sony has stated that the PC version will offer “unlocked frame rates, a range of graphics settings and presets, and customizable mouse and keyboard controls.” The game is “fully optimized for 21:9 and 32:9 resolutions and even supports 48:9 resolutions for triple monitor setups.” The port is being developed by Nixxes, a studio acquired by Sony in 2021.

The announcement isn’t entirely unexpected, given that Sony has been actively incorporating the PC into its gaming strategy. Previously, we witnessed the PC release of games such as God of War, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and The Last of Us. Horizon Forbidden West is also set to launch on PC later this month, and the multiplayer success Helldivers 2 debuted simultaneously on PC and PS5 in February.

In February, Sony President Hiroki Totoki emphasized the potential of expanding console games to the PC platform, highlighting the synergy and growth opportunities that arise when strong first-party content is made available across various platforms. This strategic approach is seen as a means to enhance operating profits by leveraging multi-platform accessibility.
