The word “bar” is a misnomer in the name. This authentic French restaurant’s name is a spin on the term “baratin,” which signifies smooth discourse in French. Former Absinthe employee Francois Mermilliod offers a variety of seafood dishes in his informal restaurant, and all of the ingredients are sourced ethically.

It was a last min change of plan. Was lucky that we managed to have a table even without a reservation yesterday. Had set lunch. The price was reasonable. The food portion was acceptable. The ambiance was great too. – Angie

This place has the most amazing vibe. It can be tricky to find since there isn’t a sign-out front so look out for the neon red sign. The people there were really nice and friendly and the drinks were great. Highly recommend it if you’re in the area looking for a more intimate place to drink and catch up. – Lemon L

Unfussy food of a high standard. The menu can get a little rich towards the end, but overall, I really enjoyed the meal here. The burrata surprised me, with its accompanying greens making the dish seem brighter and less heavy. Popular dishes like the tongue sandwich and stuffed zucchini blossoms were good but not mind-blowing, though I think that misses the point. This isn’t paradigm-changing fine dining, but well-executed bistro food with a little flair. – Jia Jin Low

Just had one of the best eating experiences of my life at Honcho, truly phenomenal food (and am in no way affiliated with the owner or anyone there). Every mouthful of food was bursting with flavor, and all the ingredients were super fresh. Special callout for the grilled pufferfish and corn – both incredibly delicious! – Shar C
