Wireless charging and a glow-up are added to Motorola’s midrange stylus phone: Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G
Motorola’s Moto G Stylus 5G is making a colorful splash this year with upgraded specs and a vibrant new design. Priced at $399, this updated version introduces wireless charging and an enhanced screen while retaining beloved features like a headphone jack and microSD card slot.
The G Stylus 5G remains a sizable device, boasting a 6.7-inch 1080p panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from last year’s 6.6-inch LCD. Its robust 5,000mAh battery supports 30W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging for convenience. Powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, this iteration offers a bump in RAM to 8GB, up from 6GB in the previous model. It’s a compelling package that combines modern features with familiar favorites.
The new Moto G Stylus 5G is not just about hardware upgrades but also introduces enhancements to its built-in stylus functionality. With a larger contact area and software improvements aimed at reducing latency and improving the user interface, the stylus experience promises to be more intuitive and responsive.
On the camera front, while the main 50-megapixel rear sensor remains unchanged with optical image stabilization, the 13-megapixel ultrawide lens and 32-megapixel selfie camera receive notable upgrades. The selfie camera’s pixel binning technology enhances sensitivity in low-light conditions, ensuring better quality images even in dimly lit environments.
Motorola’s design shift is also apparent in the Stylus 5G, moving away from the previous year’s unassuming look to embrace a more playful and vibrant aesthetic. The back panel flaunts a soft-touch vegan leather finish, offered in two eye-catching colors: caramel latte and scarlet wave. These design choices add a touch of sophistication and fun to the device’s overall appeal.
While the Moto G Stylus 5G brings a slew of promising upgrades, concerns linger regarding Motorola’s tendency to include excessive bloatware on its budget and midrange phones. The previous iteration, the Moto G Stylus 5G, was criticized for this issue. As such, there’s skepticism about whether significant changes will be made in this regard for the 2024 model.
Despite potential software concerns, the Moto G Stylus 5G remains an attractive option with its enhanced features and design. It’s set to hit the shelves on May 30th, priced at $399 for the unlocked variant.
