A terrace house in Katong is destroyed by fire, and two nearby units are also affected

It took seven water jets to extinguish the fire. On Monday, May 13, a terrace house in Katong caught fire, completely destroying its facade and inflicting damage to two adjacent units. At 11:35 a.m., the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that it received a report of a fire at 25 Mugliston Road.

The fire was “well ablaze” when first responders arrived, so firefighters used water jets to contain it in front and behind the impacted house as well as three nearby homes, the SCDF stated in a Facebook post.

During the peak of the firefighting action, seven water jets were used in all.

Prior to the arrival of the SCDF, the residents of the nearby apartments and the impacted terrace home had left. There were no reported injuries.

Despite the fact that two nearby properties also suffered burn damage, the fire was mainly restricted to the impacted house.

According to SCDF, operations to “dampen down,” or apply water to burned areas as soon as a fire is extinguished to keep it from starting again, were still in progress.

An image of the fire’s aftermath that the SCDF shared online shows a severely burned house with a blackened front and a missing roof.

The cause of the fire is still being looked into.
