Did You Know? 

1. River Valley is bordered by Orchard in the north, Tanglin in the west, Museum in the East, and the Singapore River in the South.
2. The area was popular in the 1930s, with wealthy European and Chinese merchants wanting a quieter residential area than the city centre.
3. What is now Killiney Estate used to be a nutmeg plantation.
4. Once an area that contained large mansions of wealthy traders, most of the big villas have since been demolished. The one surviving villa is a traditional Chinese house built by Tan Yeok Nee in 1995. Today, that landmark is a national monument.
